Playing catch-up again
Friday night, went to see Vanida Gail with Holly, Bert, Doreen, & Stacy. We had a good time, paying way too much money to a charity cause but enjoying ourselves nonetheless. Vanida actually acknowledged our table during the concert, recognizing Holly & Bert (& maybe myself) as some of her most stalwart fans. We talked to her between sets: I requested that she play "Look Alive" (which she did) & Holly asked her about the possibility of her playing at next GIA party - which she said she might do!!
Saturday - Stacy & I went to visit her sister & her newest niece, Dorothea Christie, who was born on Wednesday. I was feeling pretty sick by this time, but bolstered by tons of DayQuil & the promise that I could sleep in the car, I went. Stacy's family, for the most part, all lives in Carlisle, near Harrisburg. So we drove up there, hung out with her sister & brother-in-law, watched the baby sleep for about three hours, then drove back. Ah, familial obligations. The best part of the day in my opinion was watching the Devils v. Senators playoff game, which was on the TV while we were hanging out with her sister's family. Her parents weren't there because they were visiting the other recent addition to the family, Stacy's brother's son, who was in Allentown. Stacy's mom called her on her cell phone right as we were leaving, & she was all disappointed that she missed meeting me ... that's good, right?
Sunday was spent in Freemont Park, watching Stacy & the Dirty Martinis play a doubleheader. The weather sucked: drizzling & 50's, with nasty wind. I was completely underdressed for it - smart thing for a sick person to do, right? Shut up. Also, we had two of the dogs with us - Brayden (making her social debut) & Sydney (who enjoyed all the attention so much that I was calling her "Her Majesty" because of her regal attitude towards her admirers). Bert was there to watch Holly, & Doreen showed up too. Bert had Iris, her one-year old Lab, with her, & Brayden & Iris played together for several hours. Brayden was so worn out by it that she was absolutely passed out for the last hour or so we were at the fields.
