Dispatch from DesWorld #5

Sometimes I get a little bit snarky about all the rah-rah teambuilding that goes on in a large corporation. However, it is easier to take around here ... because Des is the coordinator of our office's Great Place to Work (that's GP2W for short) Initiative. And because it's Des doing it, it's got a bit of flair that it wouldn't have otherwise.

A two-hour beer & wine extravaganza last Friday was one such feature. However, I wasn't here for that, so I can't say much about it. Except that said beer & wine did inspire my beloved co-workers to partially dismantle my cube, which was a delightful surprise for me on Monday morning (cube was subsequently repaired).

But today was really a moment of inspired genius. Des, in his role as the GP2W coordinator and myself, in my role as the Health & Safety coordinator, are in a battle to see who can festoon the office with the greater number of obnoxious motivational posters (because it is a well-known Fact that posters can make an office both a great place AND a safe place to work). But I think I'm going to have to concede, because Des actually managed to slip this one into his latest mix:

"MISTAKES: It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others."

Another fine product from Despair, Inc., which makes posters, calendars, coffee mugs, screensavers, & other products with a wide variety of demotivational messages. Applicable to both professional & personal situations!

"DYSFUNCTION: The only consistent feature of all your dissatisfying relationships is you."

Is it terrible that I absolutely love these?

I feel like that's wrong. heh

If it's wrong, I don't wanna be right.

I've been laughing my ASS off at their website for about a half-hour, now. There are dozens of them there.

My favorite one is of the Leaning Tower of Pisa:

Mediocrity: It takes a lot less time and most people won't notice the difference until it's too late.

I like that one too!
