I live.

I followed up the Death Flu with a sinus infection, but I'm not dead yet. I want to go for a walk.... actually, I don't want to go for a walk. By California standards, it's awfully cold outside today. Yesterday, when la chica & I started to walk to the grocery store, it hailed on us. I think I want a cup of tea.

I also want Seasons 4-7 of Buffy. And probably Angel, too.

In work news, last Thursday my group won a big five-year contract with the EPA. This more-or-less assures me of a job for the next five years. Five years with Des, if I want it! Whether or not I decide to stay here in San Francisco for five more years, it's nice to know career stability is a possibility for me.

I'll tell you what I want. I want to be sitting in a pub somewhere, listening to traditional music, washing down my antibiotics with a fine single malt.

How vividly I recall those days. (After about two years of steady collecting, I've managed to get them all.)

Er...Have you watched those and just want them on DVD, or have you never seen them? There were a lot of people supremely disappointed in much of the later parts of both shows. I wasn't one, but...

Haven't ever seen them. So, no spoilers.

[identity profile] scifantasy.livejournal.com 2006-02-20 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Spoilization is not in my nature, besides to say that I really think you should see it all, and not give up during the weaker moments.

My opinion (without spoiling), Buffy ended perfectly with the end of Season 5. There was only one truely great episode after that (in season 6), the rest being mediocre at best.

Just my $0.02

Wait about a month for Buffy and Angel, if you're going to be buying them. They're slated for a thin-pak rerelease in that time, with msrp dropping from $60/set to $40, which means they should be pretty easily available for $30 at the online discounters.

Ooooh! Thanks for the tip.

The Starry Plough in Berkeley has their traditional Irish session tonight. They don't serve liquor, but the music is really good despite the guy hosting it being a complete and utter prat. The beer and burger combo there is quite good, really.

I want to go to the Blackthorn Tavern (http://www.sfhounds.com/sfblackthorn.com/index.htm) over here in the Inner Sunset some time. Culann's Hounds play there fairly frequently & they're supposed to be quite good.

[identity profile] angledge.livejournal.com 2006-02-20 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)

I'll take some of those antibiotics, too. Gak.

Let's go shopping for new immune systems, shall we?

Hooray for job security!

Doesn't alcohol decrease the effectiveness of antibiotics?

Hush, you.

Gesundheit.

a hot toddy ought to cut through the cold, and bridges the longing for tea then malt.

[profile] evilfb has come up with a novel new drink that combines tea with Bailey's. It is sweeeeet.

[identity profile] hermiston.livejournal.com 2006-02-21 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Really? sounds, well, novel. Having said that there's a club in Aberdeen that runs a line of coffee cocktails, which are as refreshing as any G&T...

Sounds to me like what you need is a Flaming Moe! (http://animatedtv.about.com/od/moe/a/flamingmoe.htm)

[identity profile] angledge.livejournal.com 2006-02-20 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
For flaming drinks, I prefer the time-tested Hive favorite: Thunder & Lightning. Instadrunk!

I'm curious to try [livejournal.com profile] jayesdmf's concoction that he and his brother termed a Ghetto Beatdown. He claims that after one of those you feel like your head's been kicked in.

When will you be getting back into the pool. I am going to hit the waves in about three weeks (as soon as this damn cast comes off).
