Name ten of life's simple pleasures that you like most, then pick ten people to do the same. Try to be original and creative and not to use things that someone else has already used.
1. Roaring down the interstate in a car by myself, with music blasting from the stereo, singing at the top of my lungs, & driving about 80-90 miles an hour. It's one of the few times I enjoy driving.
2. Being curled up on the sofa with a fire crackling in the fireplace, a good book in one hand, & a mug of tea sitting on the table near my other hand. And then the cat jumps into my lap.
3. Stepping off the plane at the start of a new adventure, or a visit to old friends, or a trip home.
4. Having Des breeze by my desk & say, "Fish Stick, hold all my calls - I'm giving myself a lobotomy. I need a 5/16" drill bit, a two-speed Makita, & a bottle of gin in my office, immediately." (This just happened.)
5. The incredible, soaring, limitless, death-defying, heart-pounding experience of falling in love.
6. Figuring something out: a riddle, a crossword, a bit of code, or the niggling suspicion that I know that person from somewhere. I love the *click* feeling when the pieces of the puzzle fall together.
7. Getting a piece of real mail.
8. Glancing at the clock after being totally engrossed in a conversation with someone, & realizing that time has been flying by completely unnoticed as we were talking.
9. The utterly decadent feeling of eating really good chocolate.
10. Turning off the alarm clock & staying in bed a while longer.
