Pretty good day.

I am back in le Chateau after four days in the Sierra Nevadas, working at a cleanup at an abandoned mine site. I didn't feel very well this morning, but this afternoon & evening I've been feeling fine. The cake cat is sitting next to me, purring to let me know that I am forgiven for abandoning him here to go to work. I am typing on my new laptop, which Des finally procured for me after months of begging on my part. I spent a couple of hours with each of my housemates today, catching up on a few days' worth of chatter. La chica called about an hour ago, & she will be back in California two weeks from today. I went out tonight to have a beer at the new local pub with [profile] goldenstatekate. The day was sunny & clear, even out here in the Sunset, & tonight is cool & quiet. I have an interesting day ahead of me at work tomorrow, & lots of great World Cup action to follow over the weekend.

It's been a pretty good day. The next few days are looking good too.

How are you?

How are you?

Not bad, thanks for asking. I had a couple of classes, did some other work to help my supervisor, which made her extremly happy, and now I'm working on my story. But I'll be leaving in a few minutes to do some yoga, clean a little, and then to go see friends. I hope somebody will let me crash at their place tonight so I can drink! Being the sober one during every night out is getting a little old.

Doing OK! Crazy at work, the apartment search is madness. But it's all OK.

Question--is S* putting on a show that one could go see? I'll be in NY the next two weekends, and I'd love to check it out if so. :)

[identity profile] angledge.livejournal.com 2006-06-30 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
S* has finished her program; she left NYC yesterday. She's visiting family in Texas for a few days before coming back out to CA. So - no, sorry, no show to see.

Bizarrely happy. But then, I just worked a shift with Fractal, and Girlthing 2.0 is about to give me a phone call, and all-in-all my life is pretty good. Also, I'm stone-cold sober. Hurrah me!

I am struggling to concentrate on work today because I have big plans for my weekend. Though these plans are boring, they will make a big difference to me.

Thank you!

The mine site sounds neat, but that's probably my overactive ghost-town imagination..

I just checked my AIDS half marathon page last night and see that you sent us a donation. Thank you so much! A proper thank you note is on its way, but I wanted to send this promptly since it looks like you made the donation a few days ago.

Thank you!

You're welcome!

Nevada City is a cutesy little former mining town turned artists' colony. It could be a fun weekend getaway. The mine site itself was also somewhat cool - lots of artifacts just laying around, & compared to most of the places I get to go for work, it was really pretty.

Was it the Zeibright Mine? I subscribed to an EPA mailing list after your entry about the cleanup across the bay from me.

I'm going to have to start bitching louder at the lab about removing our waste chemicals. We're running out of room in our storage cabinets, and it's starting to irritate me. As much as I love working in the lab again, I hate having to deal with that aspect of the job.

It was indeed the Zeibright Mine.

well, if you missed my big news, it shouldn't take you long to find it if you go down a couple of posts from the top of my journal ;)

Now that is big news! Congratulations to you & your man!
