Triple photo combo.

Last week:
Along Highway 20, somewhere in the Tahoe National Forest. Pretty!
Near the Zeibright Mine worksite.

Last weekend:
The burgeoning plant life at Le Chateau.
The front garden at home. Note the trellis the guys built!

Last night:
That's me, second from the left.
Workout notes from last night: approximately 2.5-3 miles on the track, one timed 1,600-m in 10:35. Started having massive, frenzied doubts about being able to do this...

10 kilometers = 25 laps around that 400-m track. Twenty. Five. Laps. I was slogging after five.

Yeah. And I would be giving up after about a half.

I'm just trying to be your positive cheering section. rah!?

I appreciate the support. I'm just having a bit of a freak-out.

I'm trying to get in touch with Sgt. Apone for some motivation.

Even one time around a stupid track oval is hell. Oval tracks bring back memories of high school gym class and shin splints from my short-lived hurdle-training. And they are BORING. What do you mean I'm not done? I've already run around the track.

But you won't be running around a stupid oval for the race, you'll be running a much nicer loop (at least I expect it's a loop, most tris have the swim/bike and bike/run transition at the same place) so you'll always have new things to see.

Sgt. Apone will probably be more motivating than I can be, but I trust that by the time you get to the race, you'll finish without puking.

Thanks for the support, woman. I'm trying to draw confidence from the fact that some of my teammates (in my running group, even) have done this triathlon before & they aren't worried. Faith that the coaches know what they're doing. And some self-assurance that I WILL finish this race.

You'll finish. No worries. You still have a lot of time to train for the race. Your fantastic bike will make the ride so easy that you'll be refreshed for the run. And you already know the swim's no big deal.

You're one of the toughest and most stubborn people I know. I'm sure you'll pull through!

Lisa had a good point about the boring running oval. Also, remember that on race day you'll have people cheering you on from the sidelines. It's a different atmosphere from just running around a track.

But even if you do have to stop and walk a little, there's no shame in that. It's fantastic that you're working so hard to do this, and that you're putting in so much effort for such a good cause.

Here's the course.

you can totally do it! don't give up!!!! just remember - we all have good days and bad days out on the road, but every step is worth it when you cross that finish line on race day!!! and our worst days out there are nothing in comparison to the people you're doing this for...think of them and run strong! :)

I hear you! Today was a much better day - we ran somewhere between 4-5 miles (50 minutes) with only one very short water stop. I felt fine through the whole thing & my confidence soared! Go Team!
