angledge: (Can of worms)

Vacation's all I ever wanted.

La chica recently found out that she will be spending three weeks in NYC for director's workshop this June. Knowing that she's going to be on the East Coast, in the midst of so many of my friends, makes me really, really want to make a trip back East myself. Not a little quickie like my upcoming jaunt to [profile] kikimoose & [livejournal.com profile] chrysoberyl's wedding (although I'm looking forward to that, too), but a full 10 days or so in Philadelphia & NYC. I'm thinking late May, before the weather gets intolerably hot & muggy. I want to wander the streets around [personal profile] effrontery's place, hang out with the GiA grrls, visit the FINS, maybe see Vanida play!, wander around the historical district.... & in NYC, mostly I just want to eat a real bagel, & see my people. They know who they are.

Downside: if I go back East, I won't be able to go to Scotland in the fall with [profile] funkyplaid. And I won't get to see my Scottish people. Tradeoffs, tradeoffs, tradeoffs.

I think it's time to step into the cloning vats.

Vats, schmats. Get your ass to Philadelphia!

Er, please? :)

This is what I miss.

I second effrontery's demand...err...request.

Get thee to Philly.

Vanida plays on 5/19 at Milkboy Coffeehouse - a new venue in Ardmore.

We've got tons to catch up on, too.

Either way...be safe in your travels when you do decide.

Oh man, I really could see Vanida - that was in the "pipe dream" category....

If you can't make it for the May 19th gig with Vanida you can always make another trip over for our backyard concert in August:-)

This is why I need everyone I love to move to one place. Or at least, one region.

Ang Clones? So that's your sinister plan to strike me down- overwhelm me with numbers! Tricksy, you are...

I for one am always in favor of you coming to the NYC area. But I'm biased and selfish and think only of ME. ;-) However, that invitation is open at all times, not just end of may to coincide with someone else's visit. You know the NYC crew will always be waiting for you, and we're easier to reach than Team Haggis.

What Chaos said. While I'm only a short train ride away from NYC and would love to meet you, it must be easier for you to get out here than to get to the land of Kilts. So go have fun in Haggis land.

Still haven't gotten over you yet

::stepping into my east coast, guilt flinging, personae of the day:: Notfernuttin' but, what kind of Philly gal would I be if I didn't DEMAND you show up in Philly. 'Cause you know, we don't do that touchy-feely "follow your heart" thing here. We do guilt and we do it well. We want you HERE and we want you here NOW. heh heh Gosh, I'm making all kinds of friends today, aren't I?

[identity profile] angledge.livejournal.com 2006-03-31 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
And in one succinct comment, you've managed to sum up so much of what I miss about Philadelphia... atty-tude, no touchy-feely, harrible accent, heart-stopping food, & yourself, of course.

Is that Betsy Ross' house?

Glad I could evoke the secret co-dependent love addiction that so many of us have w/Philly. It's the underdog-city that "has so much potential". I love it here so much. It would be perfect if we saw you on our rickety "cobble stone" streets...bootscrapers and warm brick facades as far as the eye can see. The potholes miss you, dear.

Your comment caused me to grab a new icon.

I do love Philadelphia. I do. It does have a ton of potential - if we could ever stop snapping at each other like a pack of starving dogs. I love San Francisco, & I love it more each minute I'm here. And I loved Edinburgh, & miss its chilly grey stone & wonderful warm people. But neither San Francisco or Edinburgh says "Home" in quite the same way as Philadelphia does.

I love Urban Archipelago. Thanx for commenting on my comment so I'd come here and find that. ;)

No problemo!
