Dispatch from DesWorld #1

Because my Group Manager, Des, is such a rich source of humor, I'm going to try to regularly post just a small sampling of his weirdness. We'll start today with his dress sense.

Far be it from me to claim that I am a fashion plate, but even I usually manage to match my socks:

Boss-man wears weird socks.

And when I don't, I don't pose for photos documenting my error. As I was taking this photo, I clarified my purpose: "Des, you know I'm posting this photo on a web site for my friends to make wisecracks about you, right?" Didn't faze him in the slightest. As he was posing, Des described his idea for a new business - a store that sells single socks only. His vision: "Say you lose a sock in the laundry. Instead of throwing away the mate, you go down to Des' Single Sock Store. We sell you a single sock, & now you have a pair!"

I'm a bit doubtful. "Won't you have to have a giant inventory on hand so you can be prepared to match any sock someone might bring you?"

Des looked at me condescendingly while pulling up his socks for a second photo attempt. "And who said I was going to sell people a matching sock?"

Much as I like Abel, I would really like to never again think about him wearing your panties. Thanks.

it's a proven fact in the gay community, lesbians start to dress like each other after 5 years, and start to look like each other after 10.
Whether or not this is a bad thing is still undescided.lol

Well, he's trying. They are both argyle, and they are in the same color scheme. They don't match the shoes, but what are you going to do. I've seen far worse.

I think that's why some men just wear white socks, all the time, even with suits.

We all have to love that man. He is the one that dubbed you - PORN FISH. Oh talking of your office, any chance of getting that photo to be made into an ikon?

You know, I think that file got deleted when my computer went all screwy with the spyware. Our IT guy wiped all my .jpg & .bmp files because half of them were pr0n.

And the problem was...?

Oddly enough, that doesn't strike me as strange, nor is he the first person to come up with the concept of selling socks individually. The first speaker I saw this year showed that his socks didn't match (intentionally) and he went into a little detail (captured somewhere in my notes) in his presentation. When he gave his reasoning, I have to say that I understood. From a personal point of view, if I had more socks that matched in physical traits other than color (weave, thickness, length, etc), I'd probably start doing the mismatched sock thing myself.
