angledge: (Fuck it)

The return of the interview meme: five questions from [profile] skipstress.

1. If you could only kiss either boys or girls for the rest of your life, which one would you choose? (you can still do other stuff with whichever one you don't choose, but no kissing)

Girls. No doubt about it.

2. What is your biggest guilty little pleasure?

I own a TaTu CD. It was a gift, I swear! But I listen to it when [profile] funkyplaid & [profile] evilfb aren’t home….

3. Tell me your favorite story about your best friend. (could be your best friend now or your best childhood or college friend if they aren't all the same person)

Heh heh, a chance to tell a story on [profile] vulgarbarbarian. It’s hard to pick a specific memory that summarizes our friendship. Not exactly a memory, but it’s more a feeling – I realized at some point that there’s no abyss I can fall into that’s so deep that [profile] vulgarbarbarian wouldn’t come get me out of it.

4. Where is the oddest place you've had sex?

The island in the middle of Beebe Lake. Only the Cornellians will completely understand that one.

5. Which is more important, legal gay marriages or legal abortions? Why?

Legal abortions. If "civil unions" are made available, I won’t fight over the word "marriage". But more than that, I feel that a woman’s right to make that decision is more fundamental than anyone’s right to marriage. As usual, [personal profile] naamah_darling is far more eloquent on the topic than I.

Second, some photos from the countryside around NOLA. Today my FEMA partner, Dan, took me for a drive through our parish to take photos of damaged school buildings. But along the way, we drove along the northwestern bank of the Mississippi River, alternately known as the River Road or Cancer Alley. It’s a curious mixture of antebellum plantation homes, shotgun shacks, & gigantic industrial facilities.

What makes this facility red? Anyone?
All the buildings & ground at this facility were a bright rust red. No idea why.

Houmas House
This is Houmas House, a restored plantation house. We had lunch at a lovely little restaurant there, & I drank WAY too much sweet tea. I think I've figured out why I'm always afflicted with insomnia in the South - I drink tons of sweet tea!

Two big smiles in one photo.
Houmas House also features friendly metal wildlife. This gator made me think of the coyote that the Hive always photographs out in Arizona.

Spirals and trees.
And I found a little reminder of home tucked into the plantation house’s back alley.

Oh, perfectly. And you can choose from the following replies:

- I would not have wanted to have ordered anything from Louie's cold truck that night, what with them having a view of it and all.

- I would have paid money to read the IPD police report from the base of Ithaca Falls if the two (I presume it was only two) of you had slipped and fallen into the gorge.

But that was long ago and far away. Those pictures are freakin awesome.

Ah...Beebe lake. I never wandered over to the island. But I have some great stories (some incriminating, some just plain funny) about the path along Beebe lake, the herb garden, the pond in the plantations, the little covered pavilion (too big to be a gazebo) in the plantations, a stone bridge along cascadilla creek, and the suspension bridge (aka fun with drunks).

BUSTED !!

I don't know where Louie's truck was located during your time at Cornell, but when I was there it was parked between Risley & Balch Halls. I don't think anyone could see Beebe Lake from there.

I remember [profile] dancingsaracen really upset [profile] perkyczarlet by walking along the suspension bridge at juuuust the right pace to get that thing bobbing & weaving. She ran across the bridge & cried like a leetle girl. DS & I felt kinda bad about that. Kinda.

In other bridge-related stories, I remember [livejournal.com profile] fizrep making catfish-gnawing motions on your arm at the Botanical Gardens.

Not sure you've seen [Bad username or site: http://www.livejournal.com/users/badsis/85358.html @ livejournal.com]herjournal, but definitely worth reading. I want to try and get involved somehow with Common Ground. And I'm glad you're there, trying to help.
