angledge: Polar bear with mountains behind (polar bear mountains)
I ganked this from [personal profile] krait, who reportedly ganked it from [personal profile] scribblemoose, [personal profile] spiced_wine, [personal profile] heartofoshun and others.

I'm asking those who love the outdoors to post a picture on your page. A picture that YOU took. Just a pic. No description. The goal is to regain peace and harmony without negativity. Please copy the text, put a picture on YOUR page, and let's look at these beautiful pictures.

Here you go:

INFJ-T.

I've done the Myers-Briggs personality test before. I've gotten several different results. I'm not sure what that means - do I have several personalities? I think it means that I've changed over time. That shouldn't be surprising.

I tried to answer this test as honestly as possible, even though I'm not very happy with myself right now. It diagnosed me as an INFJ-T, the Advocate.

"The Advocate personality type is very rare, making up less than one percent of the population, but they nonetheless leave their mark on the world. Advocates have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is that they are not idle dreamers, but people capable of taking concrete steps to realize their goals and make a lasting positive impact. They tend to see helping others as their purpose in life, but while people with this personality type can be found engaging rescue efforts and doing charity work, their real passion is to get to the heart of the issue so that people need not be rescued at all."

I wish I knew what to do with this information.

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?

I love snow. I love cold weather. But honestly, I have neither at the moment. Apparently, it rarely snows in Edinburgh - winter features more slush & sleet & cold, cold rain. Boo.

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?

Ideal Christmas celebration ... well, Stacy tells me she's never missed a Christmas at home, so I guess we'd spend Christmas with her family. But an ideal holiday celebration would involve seeing my family, too. Trying to mentally work out the logistics of making that happen makes my head hurt. Of course, any ideal celebration would wrap up with a trip up to Ithaca for Hive New Year. So this year is going to be pretty darn far from ideal, but it will be fun nonetheless.

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?

No unusual ones. Church on Christmas Eve, then come home & open one present. Christmas morning, get up, eat breakfast while opening presents. Sing lots of Christmas carols (with my sister-in-law playing the piano & my brother playing the guitar). Eat a big meal. Watch lots of football on TV.

4. Do you do anything to help the needy?

Not particularly at Christmas, but throughout the year I'm involved in charity work (MANNA) & I donate money.

5. What one gift would you like for yourself?

This year? Clothes. Bought for me by someone with style.

1. What was your first Halloween costume?

When I was eleven days old, my mom dressed me up as a bumblebee. She's got photos - silly, embarrassing photos.

2. What was your best costume and why?

I like my astronaut jumpsuit a lot, because it's very realistic looking & because it reminds me of Space Camp.

3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat?

No, but I have played some tricks on Mischief Night.

4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.)

ALWAYS carve jack'o'lanterns, even here (the other students were fascinated with this display of strange American folk art).

5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend!

The Horror of Blimps, as told by Scylla (see my post for the original reference). Terrifying but true. Well, not really terrifying.

1. What's your favorite "weekend" roadtrip destination (someplace within about 400 miles of home)?

Ithaca, NY, the location of my alma mater, Cornell University. Ithaca is fun for me because 1) some of my college friends have settled there; 2) it's full of strong memories from college days; 3) it's splendidly beautiful; & 4) it's an interesting little town full of strange & wonderful people. I highly recommend it as a weekend trip, even if you don't know anyone there. Also it was once picked by Girlfriends magazine as the best small town in America for lesbians - makes me wish I'd been out during college ....

2. Who taught you how to drive?

Eek. My mother. We both barely survived the experience.

3. Do you have a "dream car"? If so, what is it?

My dream is a living situation where I don't need a car. But since I've fallen in love with a determined suburbanite, that may be improbable. So barring that, I'd love either a gas-electric hybrid like a Prius, or a Cooper Mini. I also really enjoy being a passenger on Stacy's Suzuki Bandit motorcycle.

4. Do you consider yourself a good driver?

Not particularly. I speed constantly, I eat while I drive, I play with the radio. I've caused two accidents (both minor, but still). I once hit a duck at 75 miles per hour. On the other hand, I've never driven while drunk, I don't talk on a cell phone while driving, & I can drive just about any vehicle short of a 18-wheeler.

5. What was your first car?

1981 Buick Regal two-door sedan, brown on brown paint job with a brown velour interior. The car was so ugly she was nicknamed Medusa.

Ghostwriterxx asks some HARD questions! )

Forgot to remind everyone: if you want me to interview you, post a comment letting me know & I'll reply with your five questions. Then take the five questions back to your LJ & post your answers there. Ta-dah!

As happy as I am to be living with Stacy, I'm a little bit bummed about moving out of my apartment. Jenkintown rules, & I miss it already (which is why I'm going back up there tomorrow morning, I suppose). Claymont, Delaware is a noplace in comparison.

SIGHTS:
Grace Church (inside & out)
The far-off Philadelphia skyline, which I could see from my fire escape when the trees lost their leaves
The Post Office's flag, which I could see from my desk

SOUNDS:
Train whistles
Catholic church bells at noon & 6:00 PM every day, & Episcopal church bells at 10:00 AM on Sunday mornings
Occasional, elusive wisps of bagpipe music - coming from where? I never did find out.

SMELLS:
Garlic wafting out of Buca di Beppo (just typing that makes me hungry)
Incense at Aphrodite's Dove
Roses in Ray's garden

TOUCHES:
The extremely smooth hardwood floors in my 108-year old apartment
Cool, rounded pebbles in the Tacony Creek
The spines of the books in the Jenkintown Library

TASTES:
Pumpkin Ravioli at Phriends (all right, that's been gone awhile but still)
Cream of wheat pancakes from IHOP
The entire vegetarian menu at La Pergola
