NYRR Gridiron Classic.
Feb. 3rd, 2008 07:05 amOnly 4 miles. Hope this goes OK.
Update 11:17 AM: I finished! 34 degrees F, 73% humidity, calm winds. 42:22, averaged 10:35/mile. I came in 4,112th out of 4,929 finishers. I can only remember two of my gun time splits:
1 mile 19:30 (that's not my actual time - that's the time from the gun went off. In a mass start, the slowbies at the back of the pack usually don't cross the starting line until a long time after the gun officially starts the race.)
2 mile 30:03
3 mile 40-something
Finish no idea, I was looking for the Porta-Potties.
Race lessons learned:
This race is a qualifier for the NYC Marathon. If I complete eight more qualifiers in 2008....

Race lessons learned:
- Wear an extra pair of sweatpants to bundle up in before/after the race.
- Stop drinking water about an hour before the race. Push fluids hard the night before.
- Remember your splits, dummy.
- Run faster next time - I'm not exhausted right now.
