From my email to my team.
Aug. 26th, 2007 10:21 pmTeam Heliotrope,
Thank you so much - all of you - for taking part in Midnight Madness X. I'm not going to write up a long story about our adventures right now, because I'm too tired. But here are the summary results:
We finished the game at 2:08 PM, for a total game-playing time of 18 hours & 8 minutes. We finished 14th out of a field of 24 teams (I know from the messageboard that at least one team didn't finish). 7 of our original 12 players stuck it through all the way to the end -
marasca,
hotpantsgalore,
katieledge, T*, J*,
chaosvizier, & me.
LOWLIGHTS:
+ smashing the dongle during the interminable, interminable vigil on East 9th Street
+ being hassled by the homeless on Clinton Street
+ realizing at the Outback clue that we were in dead last place
+ watching our teammates passing around the bottle of Pepto Bismol at the Starbucks
HIGHLIGHTS:
+ getting THREE CLUES in THIRTEEN MINUTES after breakfast
+ whistling "Bridge Over River Kwai" while walking through Sara Roosevelt Park
+ watching
chaosvizier's brain switch into hyperdrive to solve that ridiculous ribbon puzzle
+ cheering on the teams that were walking home while we were closing in on the finish line, & having Team Clear cheer us in as we walked down the steps of the auditorium.
We learned a lot, especially ideas for tactics (if ever a MM happens again). We also had a lot of fun (despite the filth).
Edit:
chaosvizier wrote up a long description of our night (and day) here.
