Dec. 31st, 2014

angledge: (polar bear paw)
Health: Overall, I held steady on most health grades this year. However, I feel that my experience with the Whole30 in November was very valuable. I am definitely going to try again to complete the Whole30 - probably for Lent. I have also found a swim team I like here in Denver, & I'm actually entertaining the idea of doing a sprint triathlon with my brother in May.

I also got into yoga this year! I attended a few classes at the YMCA in Houston, but most of my practice came from YouTube videos. It's a great way to start the day when I'm traveling for work - no equipment needed other than my laptop, & can be done in the privacy of my hotel room. Namaste!

Change in weight, 2014: decreased by 2.8 pounds

Health Grade: SITUATED FOR SUCCESS.

Wealth: Well, it was an interesting year. Having HPG working full-time for five months was a huge boon, obviously. But the move was expensive, & HPG has not yet found full-time work here in Colorado. Concerns about MY job have so far remained just concerns, not actual problems.

One area of concern is my credit rating. It is not as high as I would like it to be (lurking in the low 700s). Considering our plans for 2015, I need to scour my credit reports for errors & other blemishes, & polish my public financial image to a high gloss.

Change in assets, 2014: increased by $51,681.68
Change in debts, 2014: decreased by $9,326.55
Change in rough net worth, 2014: increased by $61,008.23

Wealth Grade: WELL DONE!

Happiness: Always the hardest to assess! I love living in Denver - I love the weather, the easy access to the outdoors, & I even love our little house. I miss our friends in Houston, & making new friends here has been a slow go so far, but that will come with time. The biggest stressor this year has been my job uncertainty - but I am taking steps to figure out What Comes Next. I'm seeing a career counselor & planning to take a long look at what options are out there.

My relationship with HPG has been volatile - as always. But with nine years of experience together, I think we have reached a sustainable status quo. We irritate the crap out of each other & then get over it. I still would choose to spend time with her over anyone else I've ever known, so we must be doing something right.

Happiness Grade: MADE THE GRADE.

Plans for 2015

Oh, I have so many thoughts on what goals to set for 2015. There's only one that is a for-sure: we want to buy a house this year. We are working with a realtor, & plan to get a mortgage pre-approval pulled together in the next couple of months. House. House, house, house. I craaaaaaaaave home ownership. I have house lust. I hate paying Denver rental rates. House house house house house.

Other than that, I have a smorgasbord of other possible goals:

- complete a Whole30
- do another triathlon
- get married
- find a new job
- pass the FE exam
- get a second dog

I know it probably looks weird to have "get married" casually tucked in there with all the other things. But it turns out that neither HPG nor myself are eager to plan a wedding. We're both really excited about the idea of having a big wedding reception, but the wedding itself just seems like a lot of work. So, while we are very glad that the US District Court of Appeals decided we are allowed to get married, we're not rushing to the altar just yet. Maybe in 2015. I kinda think it would be a nice way to celebrate our tenth anniversary in September.

See ya next year!!
