angledge: (Drew Barrymore is just happy)

Was great. My co-worker M*, who lives down the hall from me, was my co-hostess & we had four other co-workers over for the full-out traditional Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings. We had: an 11-lb turkey, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, two kinds of gravy, two kinds of made-from-scratch cranberry sauce, breaded mushrooms, rolls, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, & salad. We had beer, red wine, & white wine (J* brought a bottle of Wild Turkey but we didn't open it). We had two sweet potato pies, pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry pie, pumpkin cheesecake, vanilla ice cream, & peppermint ice cream. And Cool Whip. And coffee. And wow, stomach aches!

angledge & B* warm up the side dishes in the microwave.

Stuffing? Check. Cranberries? Check. Sweet potatoes? Check.

Moments before sitting down to feast.

R* kicks back on the sofa to watch The Game - through his eyelids.

We watched football (Titans *eyeroll*, Cowboys feh, UT w00t!, Eagles yey!). R* fell asleep in my favorite chair. I set off the smoke alarm when I was baking cornbread. There was one frenzied late-morning trip to the grocery store to get more stuffing ingredients. The lid of my freakin' salt shaker came off while I was seasoning the stuffing, but it didn't end up ruining the dish (I scooped as much salt out as I could see). M* & I put the turkey in the baking pan upside down & cooked it that way, which led to confusion when B* tried to carve it.

My guests were the best guests imaginable & did all the cleaning up. I have enough leftovers to feed myself for the rest of this disaster. I demonstrated great restraint & did NOT eat pie for breakfast this morning.

No promises for dinner tonight, though.
