Here was my one premature thought, though I realize you're not at all at this stage. I've now been a bridesmaid in two weddings, neither of which required that we all wear the same dresses. Emily, as you know, basically said, "Wear something blue... oh wait, no blue dresses? Ok, white, whatever." Which is one option, but was actually probably more difficult for the bridesmaids than it sounds.

But if you want your female attendants to look like they go together without forcing them all into the same outfit, my other friend had a great solution. She picked an affordable brand that was available at a lot of bridal stores (since we lived across several states), and a color and fabric that could be used for many of their dresses. We each got to pick the dress style that suited us best while still all looking more or less like we matched. Brilliant.
