I am a very, very happy girl today. I just got back my graded dissertation proposal & my marks for my dissertation presentation.

I got 72 on the proposal, & 84 on the presentation!! For you Americans, add 18-20 to get a rough comparison to our grading scheme. One of my evaluators gave me a 95 for my presentation - inconceivable!

And the best part ... the best part? These two grades are for the same class that I got that craptastic grade in Term 1 (the "consulting project" where I got the lowest mark in the class, a 58). And my average for the class overall ... comes out to exactly 70. A first!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Well done- the first thing- that's important and whilst nobody will know what it means in the states, it's a big deal (most hotly contested grade boundary at exam boards).

Thanks for the explanation of what "first" means. I kinda forgot to explain it in my excitement. Basically, it means I got an "A" for that class.

STASIS (& therefore, you) helped me a lot on the presentation. Watching people successfully fielding questions from an informed audience was inspiring. I realized that perhaps I, too, would be able to sound intelligent when answering questions about my dissertation topic on-the-fly.

Damn, we need that quote for the website!

Sincerely, Ange, this makes me happy to hear. Obviously you sounded more than just intelligent, and the profs ate you up, as it should have been...

Ah, the sweet smell of success. Or perhaps the number of success. Whichever. Congratulations, anyway.
