angledge: (swim)
[personal profile] angledge
After a couple of weeks of hounding my family, friends, & co-workers for donations for my swim team's fundraiser, Saturday it was time to actually do the swim. 1 1/2 hours, as many lengths as you can swim. I got my dear cousin [profile] matt_ledgerwood to count lengths for me. He's a former PriceWaterhouseCooper auditor, which means I can state my totals with the complete confidence that only a Big Six accountancy firm can give you. Or something like that. Maybe it will all end in scandal. Mmm, Swimron.

But all in seriousness, I am pleased to tell you that I completed 252 lengths, for a total of 6,300 yards, or just over 3.5 miles. I had the second-highest total on my team. But even more importantly, I have raised nearly $1,000 for the Red Cross. We're still totalling it up, but we think that our team as a whole raised over $20,000.

There were a lot of people running around with cameras; if I can scrounge any photos, I'll post them.

WOW!

Congratulations, that is something awesome! I cannot even imagine how sore you must be after 252 laps though! Ouch!

Wow you swim so much faster than I do, but then I'm always out of practice, too.

Congrats.

*applauds heartily*

Damn, there is no way I could keep 45sec 50s for an hour and a half. I swam a 2.5k race in Lake Michigan in September, and me, being a sprinter, nearly died at that...

Congrats!

I agree that the counters should get extra kudos, since it's one of the dullest activity of the year.
Carolyn and I went to NYC, and did our hour swim with TNYA, at City College. It was excellent!
Congrats on all the dough you and your team raised!!

Eek Gads! I didn't know anyone could swim that long! Well, not without a shark chasing them or anything. Well played!
