On the original post, someone suggested that [personal profile] zoethe's article should be included with every engagement ring sold.

I like the point the author made that marriage is a partnership, not just a romantic involvement. On page 4 of the comments, she gets into an interesting discussion with a 17-year-old who read the post without understanding a whit of it. Worth checking out.

Good post, thanks for pointing it out.

The conversation with the 17-year-old was funny. I predict she's divorced by the time she's 25.

The point about REALLY knowing why you're getting married (may have been made in the comments not the original post) is so important.

Even from the viewpoint of a teenager, that was pretty damn good. :)

While reading that post, I found myself becoming more and more afraid because there are so many things that one can do to screw up a good marriage, or to screw up a relationship that is good now without the benefit of marriage. On the other hand, it was really touching that so many people wrote in to say that reading that entry reminded them of the reasons that they love their partner.

Don't be afraid.

Because, you & [profile] kikimoose have been together for so long, I think that you've already encountered most of the pitfalls that break up marriages - encountered & overcome them.
