One of my co-workers got this photo from (what must have been) one of the last evacuees to get out of Plaquemines Parish. This is Katrina's storm surge (estimated height = 20 feet) coming over the levee.

That's humbling. I always get a feeling of insignificance when I visit the ocean. This is a good example of why.
