Damn, I was sorta hoping the crocs would win. Yay for huge herds protecting their young, I guess. The lions shoulda chomped down on its neck the moment they pulled it clear of the crocs. Then the buffalo wouldn't have had a reason to charge them.
I dunno, do you think it would've mattered? Do you think the buffalo could tell the calf was alive?
I sort of think they would have charged anyway. Why? 1) Because that would teach the lions that messing with Cape buffalo (even when you successfully kill one) usually results in being on the receiving end of a can of whoopass; & 2) Cape buffalo are supposedly some of the worst-tempered animals anywhere.
