Happy LJ anniversary to me!
Mar. 19th, 2010 08:38 amWOW. Seven years ago, I posted my first blog post. It was about the beginning of the Iraq war.
That same week, I went on my first date with Stacy.
I was unemployed & biding my time until grad school started at the University of Edinburgh.
I was 29.
I am so glad I found this website (through a bunch of Sluggites, I believe). Even though it's not as popular now as it used to be, I still find the interaction here to be so much better than anything else (Facebook, I'm frowning at you). I love going back through my LJ & seeing what I was thinking 3, 5, or now even 7 years ago. Having comments & conversation from all my people adds immeasurably to the richness of the memories. I think there are things that I would not be able to remember any more, if it weren't for this record.
So anyway, thanks
bradfitz for LJ. And thanks to anyone who's reading for being part of my community here.

Date: 2010-03-19 01:58 pm (UTC)I like LJ too because it keeps my memories. My brain no longer works the way it used to, and I like seeing and reading about what I've done. It's a surprise to me too! Also, I have better privacy options than Farcebook, which just goes off and blatantly steals crap and shows you all sorts of useless garbage.
I wish the Hive still used MyFamily; it really was the best way to keep a photorecord of all our adventures, and it was private and exclusive to us, so no random fools could wander by and see all our gruesome pics and insane comment threads.
