I probably should have done this as well, but I'll admit that gas has not really gone up overall, aside from the past week when it took a 15-cent jump. I do feel that groceries are more pricey, and I suspect alcoholic beverages are also feeling a price jump. Interesting...

I tell you, though, Spain really ruins you when it comes to pricing. "I'm sorry, what, a pint of beer is... three dollars? Are we sure? Three?"

Portugal isn't much better; if four people can dine in a fairly upscale restaurant with dinner, dessert, and alcohol and still pay under $100 even with (unneeded) tip, you know you're not in Kansas anymore.

We had the same experience in Cusco. We had dinner in one of the best restaurants in town, with appetizers, high-end entrees, fancy drinks (cocktails for A*, mocktails for me), & dessert, & the total was less than $60.
