After a month of living in hotels, I was definitely sick of their bland décor, noisy guests, tardy elevators, & lack of laundry facilities.

So yesterday I moved into a studio apartment in the French Quarter (after getting back from the trip to Waveland). Without further ado, I will finish my photo spamming of your friend's page with five pictures of the interior of my new place:

There. Now you've seen it.

And this concludes our photospamming operations for today.

Whenever you get down here, woman. ;-)

Oh - the utter temptation!

I guess if I am going to think about adopting a child I should probably get all this partyin' out of my system! :-)

If you want to visit, let me know. But be advised - you will be on your own. I am working 70 hours a week. The partying I did last Saturday night was the first time I've really cut loose down here - mostly I work, work out, eat, sleep, rinse & repeat. So if you come down here, I will not be able to do much of anything other than eat dinner with you. Just FYI.

As it stands, my schedule doesn't allow for much traveling.

I will be in GA for the Christmas holidays for about a week.

I will return to PA in time to celebrate New Year's Eve with Jonatha Brooke at World Cafe Live.

I haven't thought about travel plans for '06 yet...hmmm.

Whoa.... sweet! You're living the dream of many a visitor to the Big Easy. I realize it'd be even better if the city wasn't such a mess, but still.... nice!

Wow, I LOVE it.

Did you furnish it, or it all came that way?

And if you don't mind my asking...how much?

Fully furnished, of course. I'm living out of two suitcases again this year. And it costs $1,500/month (habitable post-Katrina real estate is at a premium in NOLA). But it's still much cheaper for the company than the hotel (~$6,000/month!).

It's also cheaper than most places you'll find in the SF Bay Area.

Sooo... you're saying that landlords and hoteliers that didn't get the whack are making out like frickin' bandits?

Can't say I agree w. jacesan... studio apts aren't *that* expensive out here. Not sure how much the furnished ones are tho...
*is curious about it, but not so curious as to spend the 3 minutes it would take to suss it out on craigslist*

I'm not sure - I am not familiar with what the pre-Katrina prices around here were like. But judging by the angry commentary I saw on the NOLA craigslist, I'd say there are people who feel they are being priced out of their former neighborhoods.

Technically it's not gentrification, but it still sucks for the people being displaced.

Very nice

Great looking place Ang. You get a sence of a real place now not a hotel feel.

Count on [profile] _phobia to notice the beefcake artwork! I rented this place from a gay man, who in normal times uses the studio as his French Quarter looove shack.
