After a month of living in hotels, I was definitely sick of their bland décor, noisy guests, tardy elevators, & lack of laundry facilities.

So yesterday I moved into a studio apartment in the French Quarter (after getting back from the trip to Waveland). Without further ado, I will finish my photo spamming of your friend's page with five pictures of the interior of my new place:

There. Now you've seen it.

And this concludes our photospamming operations for today.

Fully furnished, of course. I'm living out of two suitcases again this year. And it costs $1,500/month (habitable post-Katrina real estate is at a premium in NOLA). But it's still much cheaper for the company than the hotel (~$6,000/month!).

It's also cheaper than most places you'll find in the SF Bay Area.

Sooo... you're saying that landlords and hoteliers that didn't get the whack are making out like frickin' bandits?

Can't say I agree w. jacesan... studio apts aren't *that* expensive out here. Not sure how much the furnished ones are tho...
*is curious about it, but not so curious as to spend the 3 minutes it would take to suss it out on craigslist*

I'm not sure - I am not familiar with what the pre-Katrina prices around here were like. But judging by the angry commentary I saw on the NOLA craigslist, I'd say there are people who feel they are being priced out of their former neighborhoods.

Technically it's not gentrification, but it still sucks for the people being displaced.
