angledge: (polar bear paw)
Sleep: very solid. 10:30 to around 5:45 AM with one interruption. Awoke feeling quite refreshed.

Breakfast: a big slice of the new Squash/Sausage/Sage (3S) casserole. It's good! And filling. Also: black coffee & 4 clementines.

Snack: a mindless snack. I just absently reached for, unwrapped, & ate an EPIC lamb bar. I wasn't even hungry, just mad. This is one of my biggest food issues - I eat when I'm upset.

Lunch: the last of the Mulligatawny stew (sad!) & a lunch salad (lettuce, diced deli turkey, cherry tomatoes, peppers, & carrots with Tessamae's balsamic dressing).

Exercise: brief walk with both dogs, yardwork.

Dinner: tuna steak with pesto sauce, mashed cauliflower, & steamed broccoli. OMG so good!! Drank half a mult-green kombucha.

Reflection: I've been reading more about low-carb diets vs. categorical diets like the Whole30. Mark Sisson makes a pretty good argument that eating Primal is good but eating Primal AND restricting carbs to between 50-100 grams per day is probably the best way to lose weight. I'm going to start keeping this in consideration - probably fewer sweet potatoes & potatoes. More squash & cauliflower. I'm sort of curious how many carbs (& total calories) I'm eating now. Perhaps I will start using MyFitnessPal again for a while to calibrate my understanding of how many carbs different dishes contain.

For instance: the 3S breakfast casserole (if it makes 4 servings) contains 581 calories, 19 grams of carbs, 44 grams of fat, & 33 grams of protein. My usual sweet potato breakfast casserole (if it makes 8 servings) contains 222 calories, 10 grams of carbs, 14 grams of fat, & 14 grams of protein. Hmmm... unexpected.
