You forgot to add that she knew she was pregnant with a child that had Down's Syndrome, and was given the option to abort, and decided not to.

Many fundamentalists were not enthusiastic about McCain. *IF* they vote, then yes, they would most likely vote for him. But if they're not enthusiastic, turnout amongst that group would be low. You have to give most people a strong reason to go to the polls - why do you think Karl Rove worked so hard to get so many anti-gay-marriage referenda on state ballots in 2004? It brought out the fundamentalist vote - & while they were in the voting booth, they re-elected GWB.
